Pool Renovations
Bring Your Pool Back to Life
Resurfacing, retiling, equipment upgrades, structural changes — we handle the full range of pool renovation work for homeowners across East Texas.

A recent Sam Houston Pools renovation — full resurface plus tile and equipment refresh.
Signs It's Time to Renovate
Most pools we renovate are showing one or more of these. If any of this sounds familiar, your pool is telling you it's time.
Cracking & Surface Damage
Hairline cracks, chips, or rough patches in the plaster — these are signs the surface has reached the end of its useful life.
Staining & Discoloration
Mineral staining, chemical etching, or just plain age. A renovation gives you the chance to upgrade to a longer-lasting finish.
Outdated Tile & Coping
1990s waterline tile and worn coping stones make the whole pool look tired. Updating them transforms the look at a fraction of new-build cost.
Old, Inefficient Equipment
Single-speed pumps and obsolete heaters cost a fortune to run. Modern equipment can pay for itself in a few seasons.
Layout No Longer Fits
Your kids grew up. Or you want to add a spa, tanning ledge, or beach entry. Renovation is when those changes actually happen.
Decking Falling Apart
Cracked, faded, or unsafe decking around the pool drags the whole space down. Replacing it gives you a backyard that feels new.
East Texas Has a Lot of Pools Built in the 80s, 90s, and 2000s
If your pool was built decades ago, you probably remember when everything looked new. The plaster was bright, the tile was on trend, the equipment was efficient. That changes over time — even with great care. A renovation gives you the chance to modernize the surface, the equipment, and the layout all at once, often for a fraction of the cost of a brand-new pool.
Resurfacing & Interior Finishes
The interior surface is the most visible part of a pool renovation. Picking the right finish comes down to budget, lifespan, and the look you want.
White Marcite (Standard White Plaster)
The traditional choice. Clean, bright, and the most cost-effective resurfacing option. Typical lifespan of 7–10 years with proper chemistry and care.
Quartz Finishes
Crushed quartz mixed into colored cement. A middle-tier option that's smoother than pebble and longer-lasting than standard plaster — typically 10–15 years. Available in a range of colors and tones.
Pebble Finishes
Pebble aggregate finish — the most durable and slip-resistant option, available in dozens of color blends. Lasts 15–20 years and ages gracefully. The premium choice for homeowners planning to stay long-term.
Tile, Coping & Waterline
The tile and coping are the frame around your pool — and they take the worst of the wear. Updating them is one of the highest-impact, most cost-effective parts of a renovation.
Waterline Tile Replacement
The 6-inch band of tile at the water line takes the most abuse — sun, splash, and chemistry all hit it hardest. Replacing it during a renovation is the single biggest visual upgrade for the dollar, with hundreds of color and pattern options.
Coping Stone Replacement
The capstone around the pool edge. Old precast coping cracks, stains, and dates the whole pool. We replace with travertine, limestone, flagstone, or modern cantilever concrete — matched to the deck for a cohesive look.
All-Tile Interior
Fully tiled pool interior — the most premium finish option. Glass mosaic or porcelain tile creates a finish that lasts decades and reflects light in a way no plaster can. Significant upgrade over aggregate finishes for homeowners planning to stay long-term.
Decorative Accent Tile
Mosaic medallions, step accents, fountain feature tile, raised-wall facing, and spillway tile. Small details that make a pool feel custom rather than catalog.
Decking & Deck Resurfacing
The deck is what you actually walk on, sit on, and entertain on. Whether your existing deck just needs a refresh or it's time for a full tear-out, we handle every option — from spray-on overlays to natural stone.
Spray Deck (Kool Deck-Style Overlay)
A sprayed cementitious overlay applied over existing concrete. Cooler to walk on than bare concrete, slip-resistant, and available in a range of colors and textured patterns. The most cost-effective way to refresh tired decking without tearing it out.
Concrete Overlay
A thin, troweled-on cementitious layer that resurfaces existing concrete. Hides cracks, stains, and patches. Can be tinted, stamped, or scored to look like stone, slate, or tile at a fraction of the cost.
Stamped Concrete
Poured concrete pressed with patterned mats to mimic the look of natural stone, brick, slate, or wood plank. Long-lasting, customizable, and significantly cheaper than the materials it imitates.
Stained & Decorative Concrete
Acid stain, water-based stain, or integral color applied to existing or new concrete. Delivers a custom, mottled finish that ages naturally. Pairs well with score lines, borders, and texture treatments.
Travertine Pavers
Natural stone tiles set on a sand-and-screening base. Cool underfoot in summer, classic look, easy to repair (individual stones can be lifted and replaced). The most popular premium decking option in this region.
Concrete & Brick Pavers
Manufactured pavers in concrete or clay brick — interlocking, durable, and available in dozens of patterns. Great for pool surrounds and outdoor living transitions, and easy to extend later if you add features.
Natural Flagstone
Hand-set flagstone in irregular or sawn-edge patterns — Oklahoma stone, Texas chopped stone, and similar. Premium, organic, and well-suited to East Texas landscape pairings.
Full Deck Replacement
When the existing deck is too far gone for an overlay, we tear it out and pour fresh — sized correctly, sloped properly for drainage, and reinforced to handle East Texas freeze-thaw cycles.
Equipment & Smart Automation Upgrades
Modern pool equipment is dramatically more efficient than what was installed 15 years ago. Most upgrades pay for themselves through energy savings within a few seasons.
Variable-Speed Pumps
Use up to 80% less electricity than single-speed pumps. The energy savings often cover the cost of the pump within a few years.
Smart Automation
Control your pool from your phone — lights, temperature, water features, and chemistry. Schedule everything to run when you want it.
Salt Chlorine Generators
Softer feel on the skin, no chlorine smell, and no more hauling jugs of bleach. The salt cell does the work.
LED Pool Lighting
10× the lifespan of incandescent bulbs and a fraction of the energy. Color-changing options open up evening ambiance options.
Heaters & Heat Pumps
Extend your swim season. Gas heaters for fast warm-ups, heat pumps for efficient steady heating, or solar for off-grid operation.
Filtration & Sanitization
Cartridge filters, DE filters, UV systems, and ozone generators. We size and recommend the right combination for your pool and usage.
Structural Enhancements
A renovation isn't just about replacing what's there. It's the right time to add the features you wish you had built in originally.
Spa Addition
Add an attached spa with a raised wall, spillway, and shared equipment. Year-round use without building a whole new structure.
Tanning Ledge / Beach Entry
Convert part of your shallow end into a tanning ledge or sloping beach entry. Great for kids, sunbathing, and adding visual interest.
Shape Modification
Change the shape of your existing pool — add a new section, smooth out angles, or reconfigure the deep end.
Vanishing Edge Conversion
If your lot has a slope or a view, we can convert one wall into a vanishing edge for a high-end resort feel.
Water Feature Additions
Sheer descents, deck jets, bubblers, waterfalls, or grottos can be added during a renovation while the deck is already torn up.
Our 6-Step Renovation Process
A renovation done right starts with a real assessment. We don't skip steps to get to the visible work faster.
- 1
Free Consultation
We come look at your pool, hear what you want changed, and talk through what's realistic given the existing structure.
- 2
Structural Assessment
Before we put a finish on anything, we evaluate the shell, plumbing, and equipment. There's no point putting a beautiful surface on a compromised pool.
- 3
3D Redesign
Whether you're keeping the layout or changing it, we render the new design so you see exactly what you're paying for.
- 4
Detailed Estimate
Line-item pricing — surface, tile, equipment, decking, features. No surprises mid-project.
- 5
Permits & Scheduling
We handle any permits and lock in a start date. Most pool renovations finish in 1–3 weeks once work begins; more extensive remodels with structural changes can take longer.
- 6
Execution & Pool School
We do the work in the right order, keep you updated, and walk you through any new equipment or features when we're done.
Renovate Year-Round
Unlike new construction, pool renovations don't need to be timed around a specific season. We renovate year-round — spring, summer, fall, or winter — and we'll help you pick the timing that fits your calendar.
Most renovations finish in 1–3 weeksof actual work once we start. More extensive remodels — structural changes, spa additions, full deck replacements, multiple feature additions — take longer, and we'll lay out the realistic timeline for your specific project during the estimate.
The total project timeline includes consultation, structural assessment, design, materials ordering, and permits. Plan on a few weeks of lead time before work actually begins — we'll keep you posted on every step.
Typical Project Timeline
- Week 1Free consultation, structural assessment, design
- Weeks 2–4Detailed estimate, permits, materials and finish ordering
- 1–3 WeeksRenovation work in progress (longer for extensive remodels)
- Final DaysFill, balance, pool school — back to enjoying it
Timelines vary by scope, finish selection, weather, and permit turnaround. We'll give you a realistic estimate for your specific project.
