Frequently Asked Questions

New Pool Construction
How long does it take to build a new pool?
Construction typically takes 10–14 weeks once we break ground. Including design, permitting, and material lead times, plan on 14–20 weeks total from contract signing to your first swim. The biggest variables are weather, county inspection schedules, and whether your project includes outdoor living additions like decking or pergolas.
Why do you only build gunite pools?
Gunite is the only construction method we recommend for in-ground pools in East Texas. It's the only option that handles expansive clay soils, supports any custom shape or feature, and lasts 30+ years with proper care. Fiberglass is limited by trucking-size constraints and can flex or bulge in clay soil. Vinyl liners need replacement every 7–12 years and don't hold up to debris from pines and oaks.
Do I need a permit to build a pool?
Yes — almost always. Permit requirements depend on your county and city. We handle all county and city permitting for you, including any HOA review if your neighborhood has one. You don't need to chase paperwork.
When is the best time of year to build a pool?
Sign in fall or winter to swim by summer. Most of our new construction projects start between October and February so the pool is finished and balanced by Memorial Day. Spring sign-ups typically miss the early season — if you want a pool by the start of summer, plan ahead.
Do you offer financing?
We can connect you with several pool financing partners that East Texas homeowners commonly use. Pool loans are typically structured as home improvement or unsecured installment loans. Talk to us during your consultation and we'll point you in the right direction.
Pool Renovations
How long does a pool renovation take?
Most renovations finish in 1–3 weeks of actual work once we start. More extensive remodels — structural changes, spa additions, full deck replacements, or multiple feature additions — take longer. The total project timeline also includes consultation, structural assessment, design, materials ordering, and permits, so plan on a few weeks of lead time before work begins. Unlike new construction, renovations can happen year-round, so we'll work with your calendar rather than fitting you into a specific season.
Do I have to drain my pool to renovate it?
It depends on what you're doing. Resurfacing requires a full drain. Equipment-only upgrades, automation installs, and some tile work can usually be done without draining. We'll tell you exactly what's required before you commit.
What are my pool interior finish options?
We offer three categories of interior finish: white marcite (standard white plaster) is the most affordable and lasts 7–10 years; quartz finishes are a middle-tier option that's smoother and longer-lasting (10–15 years); pebble finishes are the most durable and slip-resistant option, lasting 15–20 years. The right choice depends on your budget and how long you plan to stay in the home.
Can I add a spa or tanning ledge to an existing pool?
Yes — both are common renovation upgrades. A spa addition typically requires its own structural shell, plumbing, and shared equipment. A tanning ledge can be added by reshaping the shallow end. We do a structural assessment first to confirm what's possible.
Is upgrading old pool equipment worth it?
Almost always. A modern variable-speed pump uses up to 80% less electricity than a single-speed pump and typically pays for itself in 1–2 seasons of energy savings. LED lights, salt systems, and automation also have meaningful efficiency and convenience returns.
Equipment Service & Repairs
Do you service all pool equipment brands?
Yes. We work on Pentair, Hayward, Jandy, Polaris, Raypak, AquaCal, and other major brands. We service equipment we installed and equipment installed by other companies.
How quickly can you get someone out for a service call?
It depends on where you are in our service area and how urgent the issue is. For non-emergencies, we typically schedule within 3–5 business days. For active leaks, equipment failures during summer, or anything that's putting your water out of balance, we work to get out same-day or next-day when possible.
How much does a service call cost?
We charge a service call fee that covers the diagnostic visit. If you proceed with the repair, the diagnostic fee is rolled into the total. Pricing depends on travel distance and the nature of the work — call us and we'll give you a clear answer up front.
Chemical Delivery & Water Testing
How does at-home water testing work?
We come to your pool with professional-grade testing equipment, take a sample, and run a full analysis on the spot — free chlorine, total chlorine, pH, alkalinity, calcium hardness, cyanuric acid, salt, phosphates, and metals. We then give you specific recommendations on what to add and in what order. If you want, we'll deliver the products and add them for you.
How often should I test my pool water?
Weekly during peak season (May–October), biweekly in shoulder seasons, and at least monthly in winter. Most homeowners find that scheduled biweekly visits during summer and monthly visits during the cooler months keeps things consistent without overpaying.
Can I have chemicals delivered without scheduling testing?
Yes. We deliver chemicals to standing customers on a regular schedule (weekly, biweekly, or monthly) or on-demand. Some homeowners do their own testing and just want the products delivered.
Do you deliver to my area?
We deliver across all six counties we serve: Houston, Trinity, Anderson, Leon, Walker, and Madison. If you're outside those counties, call us — we sometimes make exceptions for nearby addresses.
Service Area & Working with Us
What areas do you serve?
We serve six East Texas counties: Houston, Trinity, Anderson, Leon, Walker, and Madison. Major cities include Crockett, Trinity, Palestine, Buffalo, Centerville, Huntsville, and Madisonville. If you're nearby but not in those counties, give us a call — we sometimes make exceptions.
Do you offer free estimates?
Yes. We come to your property, walk through what you have in mind, and give you a real quote based on your specific lot, scope, and goals. Free, no pressure to commit.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. We carry general liability and worker's compensation insurance, and we're properly licensed for the work we perform. We can provide certificates of insurance on request.
